To prevent sticky rice, add a teaspoon of lemon juice to boiling rice to keep the grains from sticking together

Thanks for the tip. I sometimes have sticky rice if I try to cook it too quickly. Can you taste any of the lemon juice?

You won't taste the lemon juice if it is added just as the water starts to boil

Thanks for the tip. I've been using a steamer with a basket for cooking rice, and it's worked well.

Speaking of "sticky rice", that's on the menu in some restaurants, isn't it? So I wonder if they do anything in particular to get it that way?

I always thought they used a certain type of rice that had more starch, but I'm not certain.

LOL. I was hoping that this was a recipe to make the sticky rice at Thai restaurants. I know that they use baskets to steam the rice. It's a different process but I'm not sure about their water to rice ratio. Any help would be appreciated.

This is how I prepare sticky rice: (hope it helps)

Sticky rice is normally steamed. But did you know you can also make sticky rice in your rice cooker with delicious results? Cooking sticky rice in your rice cooker cuts down on all the steps involved, and is so quick and easy to do, you'll find yourself enjoying sticky rice more often. As you know, sticky rice is excellent served with stir-fries, curries, or any dishes with a delicious sauce (the sticky rice both absorbs and complements it).
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 25 minutes
Ingredients:

* SERVES 4
* 2 cups Thai sweet rice (also called "sticky" or "glutinous" rice)
* 2 1/2 cups water
* 1/2 tsp. salt

Preparation:
.
1. Place 2 cups sweet rice in your rice cooker. Add 2+ 1/2 cups water and stir.
2. Let the sweet rice stand for 30 minutes (or longer if you want - up to 4 hours).
3. Add the salt and stir once more. Turn on your rice cooker.
4. When your rice cooker switches off (after 15-20 minutes), let the rice sit at least five minutes extra.
5. Enjoy your sticky rice!
