I just got a fondue kit as a present, and I'm excited to try it out, but I'm not sure what to start with. Any ideas for a good fondue meal that's easy for beginners?

Bread in cheese, chocolate for fruits. Other than that, I have no clue. I think you do one piece at a time, don't you? I'm only interested in strawberries dipped in chocolate.

I know, it's hard to move on from all the distracting chocolate-covered things! I hadn't thought of bread and cheese, though. I'm always a fan of cheese, so that could be a good starting place.

If you go the cheese route, you can also include small chunks of baked or roasted chicken, broccoli and cauliflower - basically any type of food that you can spear with the fondue fork and then dunk in the cheese sauce will work. Just think of foods that you love to have with some sort of melted cheese and if it something that can be speared, you are in business.

How did I not think of chicken?? I'm always putting cheese on everything, and now I can dip things directly INTO cheese! This fondue pot may turn out to be pure heaven.
