When making a chocolate cake, try dusting the pan with cocoa rather than flour. This will prevent the white dots that sometimes appear when cake is turned out.

Excellent tip Mary. I will remember that the next time I make a chocolate cake.

Ooh, good idea. Although now I'm wondering if it would make an interesting addition to a white cake...

You never know unless you try!

I'm wondering if you could do a flour-cinnamon combination to flour cake pans as another interesting variation. Cocoa and cinnamon could be interesting as well.

That's a good idea as well! I wonder, though, would you need to use extra to make sure enough of the taste stuck to the cake? I may have to try this out with my next one....

I am with everyone else. As many cakes as I have baked over the years, it never occurred to me that cocoa would be ideal for dusting when making a chocolate cake. Now I have to make one this weekend, just so I can use this idea!
