Do any of you guys have summer theme ideas that would be great for kids, nothing special, just something to make it exciting and fun, I was thinking a beach theme but thats just so overrated.

Samm,
What about an "under the sea" theme - you don't have to use the pails & shovels, beach balls, towels, etc & can concentrate on the fish, plants and TREASURES!!

Also a great idea for the kids - pick one theme each week during the summer. My kids love doing this!! You can prepare a special meal at the end of the week to compliment the theme. The kids can make table decorations that fit the theme - placermats, centerpieces, etc. We've done a safari theme, ballpark theme, and a luau. It's been fun for the entire family!!

With all the Pirates of the Caribbean stuff out now, that should be easy to find and easy to pull off.

Any ideas for a theme for an adult summer evening get-together? Something other than Mexican/chili pepper, luau/beach would be great!!

You could do something jungle-themed, perhaps. Or, for a complete twist on the weather, go for a cool wintery theme.

How about using a carved melon as part of the decoration? I first saw them in Mexico. Maybe you could choose specific images to suit your theme.

If it's a water melon, there can be some interesting uses of the green rind, lighter green and red, depending on how deep you carve.

I think a carabeain theme would be pretty neat. With all the fruits and veg. in season it would be the perfect time .

What about a night on the Riviera? You could decorate with Italian flags, gondolas, etc. Of course, a great lasagna would be good for eats.
