It was a project done out of desperation, as some friends of mine were getting married on a shoestring budget. the night before the wedding and reception, the person who was going to do the tables for the reception had an accident and was holed up in the hospital. Three of us ransacked out houses for table linens, candlesticks, etc and literally were doing the tables while the ceremomy was taking place less than two hundred feet away. Fortunately, the families of the newlyweds had plenty of produce for us to work with, as well as plenty of greenery, so it all turned out okay. I did the watermelon box on the fly, coming up with the design as I went. Along with chunks of yellow and red watermelon, I had plenty of canatloupe, honeydew, strawberries and blueberries to mix in. Strips of honeydew and cataloupe allowed me to creat a bridge from bowl to platter to work in the strawberries and other stuff so it appeared to have fruit cascading out of the bowl and onto the platter.

I don't have pictures of it, but I may ask my friends if they have any pictures from the reception - it may be lurking in the background somewhere.
