Apologies for the delayed announcement. It being summer (in the U.S.), things tend to be a little frantic!

IN ADDITION TO THE FIRST PLACE WINNER RECIEVING A $50 GIFT CARD, WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF BUYING 16 OZ. PINT GLASSES WITH THE CHEF CLUB LOGO. ALL WINNERS AND FINALISTS, PAST AND PRESENT, WILL RECEIVE THESE PINT GLASSES. WE WILL ALSO USE THEM AS REWARDS FOR MEMBER LOYALTY! Sound good?

All of the finalist's recipes were well received by the Chef Club Taste Team. In fact, it was a very close vote with all 6 recipes getting much praise! But, there has to be a winner and after the votes were tallied here is what we found:

THIS IS A PICTURE OF ALL THE FINALISTS RECIPES TAKEN TOGETHER:

FIRST PLACE (v5dmm) Grilled Wild Alaskan Salmon with Fresh Southwestern Relish

The relish on the salmon made a beautiful addition presentation in addition to the fabulous flavor of this dish. The addition of Kalamata olives in the "Southwestern" relish is interesting, to say the least. Flavors blended nicely together - great texture, too! The balance of the salmon and relish proved to be too perfect... the Chef Club Test Tasters voted this the #1 recipe and v5dmm the winner of the 2007 Grilling Contest!

SECOND PLACE (ironchef)
Grilled Asian Spiced Shrimp and Scallop Brochettes with a Plum BBQ Sauce.

Another popular submission. Terrific seafood dish with the added flair of a very elegant plum sauce - loved the black sesame seeds for taste and contrast. Great company dish!

THIRD PLACE (MariaS)

Barbeque Lamb Kebab submitted by MariaS

Lamb lovers were delighted with this recipe... simple, yet a real treat! One recommendation was that the marinade could have been infused with a few more herbs for added flavor. Yet at the same time, the simplicity allowed the flavors of the lamb and onion to really stand out. While it came in third, it wasn't very far from being the contest winner, either.

FOURTH PLACE (hardcase)
Grilled Apple Pie submitted by hardcase

What an interesting concept! A real conversation piece! This recipe should get an A just for originality. This was a big hit - a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the hot pie was perfect.

FIFTH PLACE (jmw)
Honey BBQ Grilled Vegetables

We used red and green bell peppers, red onion and green and yellow squash and cooked them in a grill basket over our coals. Great flavor - perfect accompaniment for almost any meal!!

SIXTH PLACE (ironchef)

Spicy Lime Cilantro Marinated Flank Steak

The steak was delicious!! We used Flank Steak . Combination of chilies, garlic and honey was surprisingly subtle. Several staff members preferred this without using the extra marinade as a sauce - marinated meat was tender & yummy by itself.
